The architectural lighting of the parish house in Daneș, Mureș county, represents a harmonious combination between aesthetics and functionality, transforming a historical building into a nocturnal attraction. In an age where outdoor lighting plays a crucial role in defining the visual identity of cities and communities, this building stands out for its thoughtfully designed lighting design that highlights both architectural details and place-specific atmosphere. This parish house architectural lighting project involved the lighting of the facade, with minimal interventions on it.
The facade of the parish house, discreet during the day, comes to life at night thanks to the light that emphasizes the unique architectural elements. The lighting fixtures are equipped with warm light. They are strategically placed throughout the entire building. Thus, it elegantly contours the structure and highlights important details such as window arches, facade reliefs and classical ornaments. This lighting technique subtly contrasts light and shadow, giving the building an extra dimension and adding a touch of mystery and sophistication. Also, we wanted to trace the rhythmicity of the building’s architecture through the light. However, we identified a visual obstacle, making us place one of the bodies on the facade.
The main entrance, with its imposing wooden gate, is highlighted by concentrated lighting. Both the arched shape and the carved wood details are accentuated. This not only draws attention to the entrance but also contributes to creating a focal point of the entire facade. The windows are also lit with our special Helios light fixtures that only illuminate the windowsill. Thus, the light does not penetrate the interior and is not disturbing.
The architectural lighting of the parish house is not just a simple nocturnal decoration, but a means by which the local history and culture are highlighted. The building thus becomes not only a landmark of the community but also a living testimony of the importance of preserving and promoting cultural heritage. Through its discreet but effective lighting, the parish house manages to combine tradition with modernity. It provides a pleasant and memorable visual experience.
