Medieval Church
The medieval church facade lighting project in Sântimbru was done with respect for historical values. Being a medieval monument, the placement of the lighting fixtures had significant constraints. We had to make sure that the lights didn’t affect the original structure. Discreet lighting was chosen to emphasize the essential architectural elements. The facade of the church is evenly lit to highlight the Gothic contours. Every detail of the building is subtly lit, creating a solemn and imposing atmosphere.

Facade lighting
To preserve the authenticity of the Gothic facade, the lighting was done subtly and discreetly. The lighting fixtures were strategically placed to highlight the essential architectural contours and details. The lights are positioned to highlight the medieval structure without dominating it. The lighting of the facade of the reformed church is uniform, offering a balanced and harmonious appearance, emphasizing the fortification elements and the Gothic lines.
Amber Illuminated Windows – An Illusion of Inner Life
A special element of the lighting project is how the windows of the church were illuminated. It was decided to illuminate them in shades of amber, to create a warm effect, similar to the flame of a candle. This play of light gives the illusion that the church is active, that a service is taking place inside or that someone is present. The amber light evokes a calm and sacred atmosphere, giving the impression of warmth and inner life, a detail that catches the eye of those passing through the area.
Monument Protection – Lighting with Constraints
The placement of the lighting fixtures was subject to strict constraints, given that the church is a historical monument. We had to avoid any intervention that could affect the structure of the building. The lighting has been designed so that it does not require any changes to the walls or windows. All the lighting fixtures were installed discreetly, without compromising the architectural integrity of the church. Compliance with these requirements was essential to preserve the authenticity and historical value of the building.
Efficient and Durable Lighting
To ensure the durability of the project and to respect the principles of sustainability, energy-efficient LEDs were used. They provide clear and precise lighting without affecting the historic materials of the church. LED lighting is also economical and environmentally friendly, ensuring a long life and low energy consumption.
