The name of the Ilie Oană stadium in Ploiești is in honour of the great Romanian footballer Ilie Oană, who was the coach and president of the Petrolul Ploiești club. Our team had the pleasure of being part of this project to light the exterior structure of the stadium.
The stadium was inaugurated in 2011 and is the home stadium of the Petrolul Ploiești football club. It has a capacity of approximately 15,500 seats, with covered stands and modern facilities.
The design of the stadium is impressive, with modern architecture and a distinctive facade. The stadium is homologated for international matches. The Ilie Oană Stadium has hosted many important football matches, including matches from national and international championships, as well as matches of the Romanian national football team.
When it comes to lighting the exterior structure of a stadium, we consider several factors to ensure:
The lighting of a stadium is very complex and includes pitch lighting, tribune and access area lighting, safety lighting, architectural lighting, etc.
The Visioluce team exclusively handled this part of the complete lighting project. To enhance the aesthetics of the stadium, architectural lighting can be used to highlight the unique features and design elements of the structure. Dramatic effects were created to emphasize the visual appeal of the stadium. Its exterior structure was fully illuminated in blue.
The placement of the lighting fixtures was carried out at the level of the stadium structure. Therefore, the optics of the lighting fixtures, as well as their positioning, were chosen with great care so that the light covers the entire surface of the facade. We took into account factors such as the shape and size of the building and any obstacles that may affect lighting coverage.
We opted for energy-efficient lighting solutions to reduce operational costs and environmental impact. LED (Light Emitting Diode) lighting is an excellent choice for stadium exteriors due to its long life, low energy consumption and versatility. LED lights can produce bright, high-quality lighting while reducing maintenance needs. They are also capable of producing a rich and vibrant blue colour.
