From homes to offices and even gas stations, LED lighting fixtures are becoming the go-to option for durability, energy efficiency, and powerful lighting. This case study will explore how LED lighting can transform gas station lighting inside and out.
Whether we are on a long road trip or need to refuel, gas stations are a familiar sight on our highways and streets. These stations operate around the clock, making it crucial to have an efficient and reliable lighting system. In the project below, we realized the lighting of the gas station, Rompetrol partner, in Petroșani, Hunedoara county. For this project, we made both the lighting for the pump area, the architectural lighting of the exterior of the building, the interior lighting of the store, and the lighting of the terrace where customers can have a coffee.
Lighting design is an essential aspect of gas station safety and functionality. Proper lighting not only improves the aesthetics of the gas station but also increases safety and visibility for customers and employees. Here are some rules and suggestions that guided us in the realization of this project:
Before designing a lighting plan, we check local regulations and codes regarding exterior lighting. For example, some cities restrict the brightness, location and direction of outdoor lighting.
Gas station lighting should focus on functionality, ensuring customers can easily and safely navigate the station. Lighting should be strong, uniform, and strategically placed to illuminate the fuel pumps, parking lot, and store.
LED lighting is the most popular and efficient lighting option for gas stations. It is energy efficient, has a long life and provides strong and even lighting. It also requires less maintenance than other lighting options. For this application, we recommend lighting fixtures specially designed for fuel stations, which we also installed in this project, the Astro series.
Lighting can enhance security by illuminating areas of the gas station that are prone to criminal activity, such as fuel pumps and the parking lot.
Glare can be a safety hazard for drivers and cause eyestrain for employees. Therefore, we used lighting fixtures equipped with anti-glare systems to avoid glare. In this case, for the indoor lighting, we used the Display Line III fixtures fitted with a multi-prismatic diffuser.
Lighting should be designed to withstand harsh weather conditions such as wind, rain and snow. In addition, lighting fixtures must be waterproof and withstand extreme temperatures, especially in this cold mountain town. All the lighting fixtures used for the exterior lighting of the Rompetrol partner gas station have an IP>65.
